Tykes Restaurant

Tykes is a restaurant with a difference. Serving a wide range of the very freshest steaks and seafood there's something here for every taste. An open plan theatre kitchen not only provides live entertainment, it also offers the opportunity to keep an eye on way your mouth-watering meal is shaping up!

The relaxed and friendly service ensures a great dining experience in an informal atmosphere. And the great thing is you can get here by simply following the Tykes Trail through the woodland. Serving food all day, 7 days a week 12noon-11pm.

It's a dog's life...

Your four legged friends can enjoy Griffon Forest too. Dogs are welcomed in selected lodges – (keeping some pet free for our guests who prefer it that way).

There’s some great walks around the site – all we ask is that you are responsible owners. Complimentary day kennels are provided if your dog wants to stay and relax whilst you go out shopping!

On foot...

Explore the network of short walks on your doorstep. Enjoy the freedom of an early morning forest walk just as the sun is breaking through the trees - then back for breakfast. There's even a walk which takes you through the forest to Tykes restaurant – a great way to work up an appetite.

The 1000 acre site is mainly flat so the walking is never strenuous and can be enjoyed all year round.

On two wheels...

Around the Griffon Forest site there are a number of lanes perfect for a spot of cycling. Cars around the site are few and are restricted to the access roads leading to the lodges making it a safe area for adults and children to take to their cycles. All other tracks are exclusively for walkers and cyclists (see site plan), so there’s no excuse, get outside and get the wind in your hair!

Don’t worry if you haven’t brought your cycle - we normally have a couple you can hire at the reception.

Gone fishing!

We know that all this activity isn’t everyone’s idea of a break - so bag up your rods and flies and take yourself off for a perfectly peaceful few hours at the trout lake.

The lake is regularly maintained and restocked. We hear there’s a real big one in there which always seems to get away!

Sandburn Hall

Sandburn Hall, set amongst lakes and woodland can be easily reached on foot by following the Tykes Trail. Our sister operation, it is a golf venue with a fresh approach - welcoming golfers at every level. Why not come and see for yourself? It’s a place where friends and family can relax in the informal atmosphere and whose facilities are fully available to Griffon Forest guests - 18 hole golf course, driving range, sports bar, shop, badminton, indoor tennis - there’s even a pro if you fancy some serious game improvement.
